SnapPower could add a USB charger to every power socket without rewiring
SnapPower , the company that made the simple-to-install nightlight that clips onto power outlets, has launched a new crowdfunding campaign in a bid to bring easily retro-fittable USB-equipped power socket cover plates to market.
Looking to raise $35,000, the project has already secured more than $65,000 with 44 days left to run. In essence, all you need to do to install it is place the device over your standard outlet cover. There’s no need to play around with your wiring either, as it draws power from the screws it connects to – this makes it particularly handy for people in rented accommodation.
The lowest ‘early bird’ price is $12 for a single SnapPower Charger and delivery starts in August this year. Its being offered in two styles and three colors – White, Light Almond and Ivory. Multi-packs are also available.
Delivery is limited to buyers in the US, Canada, Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Panama.

Verizon leaks HTC One M8 with Windows Phone ahead of official announcement
HTC is expected to announce a Windows Phone version of the HTC One M8 on August 19 in New York . Unfortunately, it looks like Verizon might have spoiled any chance of that being a surprise to anyone.
Pocket-lint found an image link of an HTC One M8 on Verizon’s site. The image shows the smartphone touting Windows Phone Live Tiles. So in addition to HTC announcing the phone, expect an announcement that Verizon will carry it.
The Android version of the phone boasts a five inch 441 PPI (1090×1020 pixel) display, a Snapdragon 801 quad-core chip, HTC’s dual sensor Duo Camera, the HTC BoomSound and Gorilla Glass 3. So expect the same, or similar specs on the upcoming Windows version.
