Samsung Galaxy Note 4 available to pre-order in UK from tomorrow, arriving in-store October 10

Samsung has confirmed that the latest in its line up of phablet devices – the Galaxy Note 4 – will be available to pre-order for customers in the UK from tomorrow, and will be on retailer’s shelves near the beginning of October.

Samsung Experience Stores across the UK will be allowing pre-order signups, but if you wanted to reserve one via a regular online or high-street retailer, you’ll have to wait until September 26 to get your orders in. Regardless of where you order, it’s due to go on sale nationwide from October 10. Samsung didn’t say exactly how much it would cost, though.

There’s no word on when exactly it will go on sale in the US as yet, but we’d expect it to be sooner rather than later, as Apple’s huge iPhone 6 Plus is also going on sale tomorrow. As a result, Samsung will not want to waste time getting this 5.7-inch device to market. We’ll let you know if we hear back.

Update: The Galaxy Note 4 is due to go up for pre-order in the US tomorrow too, but won’t arrive until October 17,  Samsung confirmed.

Google Glass update adds photo syncing, Google Now cards for World Cup, parking location, and package tracking

Google today announced the latest update to its Glass project, adding five new features for those who have shelled out $1,500 for the wearable device. The new additions include better photo sharing for Android users, as well as Google Now cards for the World Cup, parking location, and package tracking. Google has also added a battery notification for when Glass drops below 20 percent, in response to feedback from current device owners.

First up, the photo-sharing update means when you take a picture on Glass, you’ll see it instantly on your Android phone when you open the MyGlass app. Tap the image to open it, apply a filter or make some edits, and share it via your favorite app.

The best part is saved for last: “Oh, and did we mention you don’t need to be connected to Wi-Fi?” Google says it is working on bringing to same functionality to MyGlass for iOS, but wouldn’t offer a specific date to look forward to.

The first Google Now card lets you follow the World Cup on Glass. Just set up notifications on Google Now (add your team manually or click “Yes” when you see the option to get match updates).

Here’s how it looks:

The second shows your parking location. If you forget where you parked your car, just look to the left of your Glass home screen to find your Parking location card and follow the map back to your parking spot:

The third one lets you track your packages: you’ll get notifications on Glass when they ship as well as are delivered. Just go to your Google Now settings and make sure you’ve answered “Yes” to receiving “package updates based on your Gmail.”

This update is slated to roll out “later this week.”

Google launches Glass open beta: Anyone in the US can now buy the Explorer Edition for $1,500 and Google Glass update adds photo and video backup, option to clear media from timeline, smarter phone answering
