As part of its big week of Summer discounts, Amazon has turned its attention to Samsung phones and wearables. To be honest, the discounts are of variable quality, but for completeness’ sake, I’ll cover all of them. The absolute highlight is the Samsung Galaxy A21s, which was a bargain at its regular price of £179, but even better value at £149 . As Nathan wrote in his review (subtitled “the ‘s’ stands for ‘sensational’): “Samsung has carefully picked the right ingredients for budget greatness, and it’s certainly no surprise that the most popular phones coming out of Carphone Warehouse’s virtual doors continue to be lower-priced Samsungs these days.” If, however, only a Samsung flagship will do, then Amazon has slashed £100 from the price of the Galaxy S20 Plus, bringing the cost down to £899 . That’s not a terrible price, but it is some way from being the cheapest it has been on Amazon – it was once £849. Better value is the Samsung Galaxy S10. Yes it’s last year’s flagship, but it still packs a huge punch and gets a big £250 discount on its original price, bringing it to £549 . That seems to be the best price for a new handset, though obviously the pre-owned market may provide better options. 4Gadgets, for example, sells the S10 preowned from £380 . On to wearables. The rather excellent Galaxy Watch Active is down £69 to £129.99 – and although it has technically been superseded by the Galaxy Watch Active 2, having reviewed both, I’d say the differences are pretty minimal. Finally, the Galaxy Buds – Samsung’s answer to AirPods – are down to £94, a saving of £46 on their usual £139 asking price . These aren’t our favourite true wireless earbuds, and you’re probably better off buying either the Creative Outlier Air for £59.99 or the RHA Trueconnect for £89.95 , but if you want everything you own to have a Samsung logo on, then they’ll do just fine.
