Sony’s PlayStation 4 is scheduled to get an update “soon” that will introduce a new video editing app, as detailed in a blog post today. Sony had already teased the update last month .
The SHAREfactory app is aimed at making it easier for players to customize their gameplay videos. It will let you combine video clips for editing, add special effects including filters and themes, personalize the videos with text, stickers and audio tracks, then share these with friends and social networks. It even has the option to add a video commentary, tapping on the picture-in-picture capability with PlayStation Camera, and allows you to import original music to add to your video soundtrack.
Sony is also giving players the option of switching off HDCP, so they can have the choice of recording longer videos directly from the HDMI output.
With the latest update, Sony is also bringing on additional features that build on PS4’s ‘Play as You Download’ function. If you set up your auto-download feature properly, it will automatically pre-download your pre-ordered game — you can order a game up to four days before it gets released — and start playing the minute the game gets unlocked.

Payleven set to launch €100 contactless payment-capable Chip & PIN reader for small businesses
Rocket Internet -backed mobile payment processor Payleven has today announced the launch of a new NFC-equipped Chip & PIN card reader which will be available for customers in the second half of this year.
Like its previous Chip & PIN card reader, the unit will allow small businesses to accept payments on the go – but unlike the previous iteration, it includes NFC support so that vendors can also accept contactless payments from debit cards or mobile devices.
Payleven says hardware that allows vendors to accept contactless payments generally costs between €400 – €700, but that its new NFC-equipped reader will cost around €100/£100 – which is only €20 or so more than the existing Chip & PIN device.

Apple just introduced a SIM that you don’t have to replace when you switch carriers
Apple didn’t announce this during its event today , but it has created a SIM that makes switching carriers as easy as a few taps without having to visit a physical carrier store.
The Apple SIM that ships in the new iPad Air 2 just made switching carriers and traveling abroad about a hundred times easier. Instead of having to replace a SIM every time you want to connect to a new carrier, the Apple SIM lets you choose carriers in both the US and UK from the Cellular Data setting in the iPad.
This is what Apple says on it’s iPad Air 2 page about the new feature:
While this is great for the iPad, the Apple SIM could make its way into the next iPhone and make SIM swapping a thing of the past. For anyone with an unlocked phone or that travels internationally, this is some pretty stellar news.
Apparently T-Mobile CEO, John Legere is a fan of the Apple SIM:
How other carries react and whether the technology behind Apple SIM will carry over to other smartphone platforms is yet to be seen. Currently AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile support the feature in the US. In the UK, it is supported by EE.
