Nintendo has announced that a smaller version of its Wii games console called the Wii Mini will go on sale in the US in the next two weeks priced at just under $100.
Naturally, it’ll run all the same Wii games as the regular Wii console, and buyers will get a copy of Mario Kart Wii thrown in for free.
Nintendo is trying to cash in on the lucrative holiday season once again and is likely hoping it can claim some of the original success seen by the first Wii back in 2006. It could also help stem the tide of falling Nintendo Wii U sales, too.
The move comes just one month after Nintendo said it would stop making the original Wii model, and stop distributing them in Japan and Europe.

Apple reportedly going all in with wireless charging for the iPhone 8
Apple has been long-rumored to bring wireless charging with the upcoming iPhone overhaul and it seems the electronics titan is finally pulling the trigger on the new tech.
Esteemed KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested we can expect all three rumored iPhone 8 models to feature inductive charging. Kuo further notes wireless charging is also likely to land on the refreshed iPhone 7 versions slated to arrive this fall.
The KGI expert claims the addition of wireless charging could result in higher production costs. Since wireless charging has been known to increase the temperature of the handsets, Kuo predicts Apple’s upcoming phones will likely feature an upgraded 3D Touch module with “additional graphite sheet lamination” to prevent overheating.
MacRumors has obtained a copy of Kuo’s notes:
This speculation aligns with other recent reports suggesting the forthcoming iPhone 8 could be Apple’s most expensive handset yet , with rumors hinting the price could be over $1,000 for the premium model.
While other phone-makers like Samsung and LG have already integrated wireless charging into some of their devices, Apple is yet to do the same with its iPhones.
Taking into account that back in September leaked Apple patents suggested the company is working on its own inductive wireless charging gadgets, it seems this time around we might finally see the technology make it to market.
Motorola plans to release new smartwatch this year and new version of Moto X in ‘late summer’
Motorola may not have released any new devices at Mobile World Conference 2014 in Barcelona, but that doesn’t mean the company doesn’t have news to share. At some point this year, the company plans to release a new smartwatch, and in “late summer” it will launch a new version of its flagship Moto X device.
The news comes in the form of a Q&A, being posted on Motorola’s Twitter account:
Taking Moto Maker outside of the US has been a long-time coming. All of this makes it look like 2014 will be a very busy year for Motorola, including the fact it is being acquired away from Google by Lenovo .
