Here’s one reason you might not want an Apple Watch Sport
Not all glass is created equal. While the more expensive Apple Watch models come with Sapphire glass , the cheaper Apple Watch Sport uses less resilient Ion-X Glass .
The video below from US-based Ukrainian YouTuber TechRax shows what happens if you drop your brand new Apple Watch Sport face down onto concrete. Spoiler: It’s not good.
Apple says Ion-X glass is “hardened down to its molecules…[creating] an extremely hard surface layer that is resistant to scratches and impact.” Based on TechRax’s example, it seems best not to push that claim too far.

Amazon brings Alexa to its tablets with the new $89 Fire HD 8
Amazon is finally bringing Alexa to its tablets.
The company today unveiled the new Fire HD 8, meant mainly for light media consumption. The specs are nothing to write home about, but a solid deal for $89 bucks:
8-inch HD Display (1280 x 800, 189 ppi)
Quad-core 1.3 Ghz processor
1.5 GB RAM (50 percent more than previous tablet)
16 GB and 32 GB storage options
4,750 mAh battery (12 hours mixed use)
Front and rear cameras
Dolby Stereo speakers
2x more durable than an iPad mini (whatever that means)
The big news here is Amazon is bringing Alexa compatibility. Simply long press the home button while connected to Wi-Fi to ask the assistant to play a song or read you an audiobook.
Amazon says Alexa will be coming to the Fire HD 10, Fire, and last year’s HD 8 via an update in the coming months.
The device is available for pre-order now for $89 (119 for the 32 GB model) and comes in black, magenta, blue, and tangerine. It begins shipping September 21.
