It’s rare, in our full-length reviews, that we cite no cons to a product. Whether it’s battery life or design bugbears, there’s always a little niggle. Well, not when it comes to these Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones, which, incidentally, have had their price culled in the Amazon Prime Day sale.
In our five-star full-length review of the Sony noise-cancelling wireless headphones, they received not a single con. They were praised, meanwhile, for their dynamic sound quality, noise-cancelling capabilities to rival those of Bose and, critically, their comfort levels (high).
The premium pair of wireless headphones boasts active noise cancellation (ANC), Bluetooth and near-field communication (NFC) connectivity. Its design is as laudable as its features, with a faux leather-wrapped headband (marking a departure from the industrial-looking exposed metal core of its predecessor, the XM2) ample, but not excessive, cushioning on the earpads. The result is a sleek, pared-back set of what we dubbed “the best wireless ANC headphones around”.

With an RRP of £330, a quick consultation with price comparison tool Camel Camel Camel tells us these headphones usually market at around the £225 mark. Nevertheless, their price has been cut even further – situating them in sub-£200 territory at just £198. An absolute steal for a product with no (headline) downsides.
These headphones would be a perfect accompaniment to the trickle back to the office, blocking out everything from low-level background noise at your desk to kerfuffles on your commute. Plus, the depth of sound quality and effectiveness of their ANC mean they’re perfect for escapism too: foreign travel might be off the cards for this summer, but these are perfect for hazy days in the park or garden.
