Dell has been savagely cutting the price of its XPS 15 laptops in the run-up to Black Friday. But the best deal yet is today’s “Mega Deal” which has £520 off the price of a top-spec model .
For £1,999 you can get an XPS 15 with an eight-core Intel Core i9-9980HK processor, which is a mighty powerful laptop chip with it running up to 5GHz. That CPU is paired with 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of M.2 PCIe NVE SSD storage is also thrown in for good measure.
That’s a pretty powerful specification by itself, but Dell has also equipped the XPS 15 with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1650 with 4GB of GDDR5 video memory.
When combined with the processor and RAM, that gives this XPS 15 more than enough power to easily run demanding tasks, such as video rendering or heavy-duty photo editing. It can also be used for gaming, though you’ll need to tweak some settings in demanding games, as the GTX 1650 isn’t the most powerful laptop-grade graphics card, but Nvidia’s GeForce Experience tool should help with that.
As this is a high-end XPS 15 model, Dell has given it a 15.6in OLED display, which delivers more contrast and punchy colours than the LCD panel used on other cheaper XPS 15 machines. The only thing to bear in mind is the display isn’t a touchscreen panel, but that might not bother many people.
OLED panels in laptops are still uncommon, so getting such a screen in a machine with a stellar specification for more than £500 off the price tag is certainly appealing. But you’ll need to hurry as the deal is only live for another six hours and Dell has limited stock of this powerful XPS 15, so when it’s gone it’s gone.
